Thankyou so very much for making 2018 yet another exceptional year for the Poppy Appeal, with the Branch almost breaking the 50k mark for the very fiirst time in achieving the outstanding amount of €49,162.80. Well done to everyone concerned.

This was the best ever for the Orihuela Costa and District and our thanks must go out to the general public and to the businesses of the area which have once again shown the pride and gratitude they have in our Armed Forces with their wonderful response. We must also thank Eddie Coleman, our appeal coordinator, as well as our members who have so generously given of their time.

Welfare work carried out by the RBL is a lifeline for thousands of serving and ex-Service people and their families, the single biggest fundraising event for which is the annual Poppy appeal.

Here on the Orihuela Costa that appeal is an ongoing operation with the 2019 campaign now well and truly underway.

During the first ten months of the year fundraising is carried out at a multitude of local events, which can vary from collections in local bars and restaurants, theatre shows and benefit concerts, to the sale of RBL memorabilia.

Then, from the 3rd week in October we see the main campaign of the year with the launch of the Poppy Appeal, taking us through to Remembrance Sunday on 10th November, during which time members of the public and military alike wear a poppy to remember the passing of friends and family as well as the huge sacrifices made by our Armed Forces throughout the decades.
