Old Basing Royal British Legion organised a World War 1 Centenary event in 2014. The volunteers who put the event together should be congratulated wholeheartedly for the result they achieved by delivering the event on 2nd August that year.
To finance this we have to sincerely thank the Heritage Lottery Fund for their generous contribution as well as two grants from Hampshire County Council.
We owe thanks to Brian Dawes who took on the huge task of researching the names of the twenty six Fallen of WW1 on our War Memorial. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for providing information for our research.
