Branch Community Support
Here at the oakengates & District Branch we pride ourselves on our undevoted support to BCS.
Since the start the branch has embraced the three main arms of BCS, these being:
- Home & hospital visits
- Buddying telephone calls
- Attendance at veteran funerals.
Typically veterans are referred into BCS from:
- TRBL Contact Centre
- Local NHS/Social Care Professionals
- Alzheimers Society
- RBL Caseworkers
All referalls are assessed and approved by county based full time RBL officers.
All of our veterans will have initial contact by phone, where possible this is followed by home/hospital visits that hopefully will be continued. Where the visit is not practical/appropiate, regular and frequent phone calls will be the order of the day.
The Branch will supplement these contacts with an invite to our monthly Beer & Banter Veterans Session held in Oakengates - See our upcomings page for more Info.
As well as the support listed above we encourage our veterens to join us on our annual visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, a fully funded trip offered to provide an opportunity for our veterans who may be enduring some social isolation to meet up with other likeminded individuals.
Our BCS Volunteers
Our BCS Supporters are all volunteers who have undertaken formal training in an effort to provide the best possible support we can. This includes DBS Screening, Annual Adult Safeguarding & Annual GDPR Training to ensure all of the support we offer is confidential and compliant.
