Newton Abbot RBL Vice Chair Richard Underhill Awarded Gold Badge

The Newton Abbot Branch of the Royal British Legion (the RBL) is proud to share that our Vice Chair, Richard Underhill, has been awarded the prestigious RBL Gold Badge in recognition of his outstanding voluntary service.

Richard received the award at the Devon County Royal British Legion Annual General Meeting held in South Molton. The Gold Badge is one of the highest honours presented by the RBL and recognises exceptional commitment and long-term service to the organisation and the Armed Forces community.

The award was presented on behalf of the National Chair of the Royal British Legion by Jan Buxton, during the county gathering of branch representatives. Those present heard how Richard’s dedication over many years has made a significant and lasting impact - not only within the Newton Abbot Branch, but across the wider Armed Forces community in Devon.

Richard has served the Newton Abbot Branch with distinction, previously as Chair and now as Vice Chair. His leadership, steady commitment and support for Remembrance and branch activities have been central to the strength and continuity of our Branch.

On receiving the award, Richard described the recognition as “totally unexpected,” reflecting the humility and quiet dedication that many of our members will recognise.

The RBL Gold Badge is awarded sparingly and represents exceptional voluntary service. We are delighted to see Richard’s contribution formally recognised and thank him for his continued service to our Branch and the wider RBL community.
