Morecambe Town Council arranged a number of events to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 8th May 2025.

These included a Flag-Raising Ceremony at Morecambe Town Hall led by Cllr. Russell Walsh, assisted by Rev. The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Town Hall that was enjoyed by the Armed Forces Veterans, their families and civic guests.

Later in the evening, Morecambe Brass Band performed a concert in The Platform that included many well known musical arrangements from the 1940s and concluded with a sing-along of a few of the wartime favourites that the audience joined in with enthusiastically.

The VE Day 80 celebrations were concluded with a Beacon-Lighting Ceremony at the Stone Jetty which coincided with other Beacon-Lighting Ceremonies UK-wide and the Beacon was lit by Mr Mal Neill which was followed by the Union Flag being lowered by Mr Phil Bradley whilst the Last Post was sounded by Mr Rob Letch to end the day.
