Kingsclere

The Kingsclere Branch of the RBL was first established in 1922 and has had a presence in the village of Kingsclere ever since. Originally meeting in a member’s house, the branch has had a number of meeting places prior to it settling in its current home at The Crown, Kingsclere.

Branch members are community focused and consist of a seamless blend and mixture of ex-international military personnel and civilians; who all bring to the branch a plethora of skills, enthusiasm and dedication.

Our Branch Plan focuses on three key pillars; those of Remembrance, Comradeship and support to our community.

Attendance was made to the RBL Great Pilgrimage in 2018, where the Branch Standard paraded along with over 1400 others in Ypres and a wreath was laid on behalf of the village. Support to our Veteran community across the county is at the heart of our activities and in 2019, the branch donated £1000 to the Hampshire County RBL Welfare Fund, providing much needed monies for this worthy cause. In 2020 branch membership stands at approximately 50 active members and new members are most welcome with meetings, social events, outing and fund raising activities well supported. The branch is a key element of village life and the wider local community where it strives to support other local organisations and our Veteran community. Our branch has a very successful Facebook page, search for “Kingsclere Royal British Legion” for details and to request site access.

In Kingsclere RBL, the core ethos and values of service, comradeship and remembrance live on.
