The Royal British Legion Big Poppy Knit 2018

The Kelvedon branch of the Royal British Legion (which includes Feering) held a number of events during 2018 to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War in November 1918.

Marking this important occasion (with the kind cooperation of St Mary’s Church) the RBL created a very special display of poppies in remembrance of all those lost and injured during the First World War from 1914 – 1918.

Thank you to everyone who helped to create a magificent display of cascading knitted poppies attached to special netting which was draped from the ‘battlements’ on the roof of the Chapel at the south east corner of St Mary’s close to the War Memorial and therefore visible from the road. A display was also created around the porch. The poppy display was installed at the end of October in readiness for the special events being held at the time but particularly for the Remembrance Service on Sunday 11th November.
