RBL AGM Awards 2023


A good turn out for our AGM today at the DAR Centre.
A significant day as Mike Huggins gave his final Chairman's report to members prior to stepping down and handing over the reigns to the new Chairman Dave Brettle.
Dave thanked Mike for his hard work and dedication in helping RBL Javea grow and succeed during his past two years in office. Also a big thank you was given to Sue Leinster for her two year commitment in the role of membership secretary.

Chris Leinster was presented with the Bill Simmons Cup as a members award for his work as a Branch Community Support volunteer.

Bill Simmons was the founder member and the 1st Chairman of the Javea Branch.

 

Javea RBL Branch - Awards 

Following the recent RBL Spain North District Conference, the Branch and two of its members were recipients of Chairman's Awards.
Two long-standing Members, Pam Dawes and Tony Edmunds, received Chairman's awards.  Pam has volunteered with the RBL for over 20 years at both District and Branch Level and has been the Branch Membership Secretary and Treasurer for many years.
Tony's award was in recognition for his work as the previous Branch Chairman and also as the Poppy Appeal co-ordinator.
The Branch also received The Fallen Hero Award.  This Award is presented to the Branch which makes a significant year on year increase in the Poppy Appeal.  Thanks to the generosity of donations into Poppy Boxes, the amazing sum raised by Pam Small's Fitsteps Group in November and also the proceeds from the Four Amigos' Denia to The Cenotaph cycle ride, the Branch almost doubled its contribution to the Poppy Appeal in 2021.
The Awards were presented to the recipients and the Branch Chairman by Nick Keen, District Vice Chair at its Monthly Meeting on Tuesday 8th February.

Presentation to Tim O'Neill - Outgoing Branch Standard Bearer 

At yesterday's Branch Meeting, Tim O'Neill (below right) was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of District North Spain to mark his retirement as the Branch Standard Bearer. During the 14 years he has served in this role, Tim has carried the Standard at countless events and is a great example of the Legion's motto "Service not Self". The whole of Javea Branch joins in congratulating Tim on this well-deserved award and thanks him for his loyal service.
