British Military Intervention In The Sierra Leone Civil War

The British military intervention in Sierra Leone, began on 7 May 2000.  The operation was a response to the escalating conflict between the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and the government of Sierra Leonne.  The intervention aimed to evacuate foreign citizens, assist the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL), and train the Sierra Leone Army to combat the RUF.  The British Force involvement was marked by a series of operations, including Operation Palliser, Operation Barras, and Operation Khukri which was the first large-scale deployment by British Forces in the Sierra Leone Civil War.  The intervention was significant in stabilizing the situation in Sierra contributed to the eventual end of the war. 

The British Forces involvement in Sierra Leone resulted in 2 fatalities.
