VE Day 80

On Thursday 8 May 2025 The Branch commemorated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day with both a Wreath Laying Service and manning a Branch Information Stand and Parading the Branch Standard at the Beacon Lighting Ceremony that evening.

At the well attended Wreath Laying Service, the lessons were read by the Branch Chairman Ian Norman and the Branch Secretary Sqn Ldr (Retd) John Healey MIH.  Wreaths were laid by the Deputy Mayor of Hythe, Stephen Bailey, by the Branch President Joe Moran and Branch Member Capt (Retd) Ian Bell.  The Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph was read by Ian Norman.

During the service, Children from Hythe Bay Church of England Primary School performed the song 'I'll Remember'.

Following the service Branch members and guests retired to Henry's Wine Bar in Hythe High Street to toast 'The Fallen'

That evening members of the Branch attended the rather windy Beacon Lighting Ceremony on the seafront, manning a Branch Information stand and Parading the Branch Standard.
