Armistice Day 2025

Tuesday 11 November 2025 saw the Branch holding its Annual Armistice Day Service at the Hythe War Memorial.  Thank-you to everyone who attended the event.

The Service was led by the Branch Chaplain Dudley Shipton, with the Lesson read by the Branch Secretary, Sqn Ldr (Retd) John Healey MIH.  Following Prayers of Tribute, Gavin Bull read the Siegfried Sassoon poem 'The Aftermath' accompanied by music.  The Branch Chairman read the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph.  Following the 2 minutes silence Wreaths were laid by the Right Worshipful Mayor of Hythe, Councillor Stephen Bailey, by Branch Members Lisa O'Gorman and Gavin Bull.

The choir of Hythe Bay Church of England Primary School then performed 2 songs followed by 3 Dancers from Brockhill Park Performing Arts College paying tribute to the Fallen with a Contemporary Dance to You'll Never Walk Alone.  Both performances were a fitting tribute from the youth members of the Hythe Community.

Our thanks go to the Headteachers of Hythe Bay Church of England Primary School and Brockhill Park Performing Arts College for allowing their pupils to take part in the Service.  Thanks also go to Matt from Kent PA Hire for his support with the sound system and to John from The City Of Canterbury Band for his rendition of The Last Post and Reveille.

Following the Service Branch Members retired to Henry's Wine Bar to toast 'The Fallen'.
