To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll at her instigation The Queen's Green Canopy was introduced, with free Trees available from the Woodland Trust.

15 Trees were ordered from the Woodland Trust, and 5 of each Rowan, Crab Apple and Hazel were supplied in March 2023.  This was an ideal event in which to include young people.  The local Scouts and Guides were approached to see if anyone was interested, and 12 young people turned up on the day to help.  Our thanks to the Leaders and Mums and Dads who ferried them to Horbury Lagoons for the event.

Planting went well, ground was soft after a day of heavy rain the day before.  Pictures to come.

The trip back to the carpark was hastened with the thought of drink and food, all those hollow legs.

Certificates were presented to the Scouts and Guides who helped us. It is hoped the event will give material for one of the Scouting/Guiding badges.
