WW1 Tribute To Heroes Phone Box

Mike Greensmith a supporter of the RBl and branch recently paid a tribute to our sixty nine local lads who lost their lives during WW1.

Mikes unique and poignant tribute was to place a Tommy Atkins Silent Soldier Silouhette inside a redudnant telehone box. The indvidual window panels are inscribed with the names, regiment and ages of those brave lads from Hayfield who paid the ultimate sacrifice 100 years ago.

Unfortunatley the temporay display will be dismantled shortly 22nd May 2018 as the local parish council have earmarked the phone box for a AED to be fitted.

We do hope to relocate Tommy Atkins in the very near future somewhere centrally in the village.

Many thanks to Mike Greensmith and his brother Andrew for this very moving and emotional tribute.
