The Poppy Appeal in Harleston & District - 2023

On behalf of the Branch Chairman, the Harleston & District Branch of the Royal British Legion would like to thank you all generous donations towards the 2023 Harleston & District Branch Poppy Appeal.  We can ensure that members of the Armed Forces Community that need our help are able to get it.

Also, thankyou to our Poppy Appeal Organiser Mandy Carter for co-ordinating all the efforts involved and the massive task of counting all the individual collecting pots.  Thanks also, to branch members Terry Pegg, Claire Cropley and Carla Shields for organising the delivery and collection of all the Poppy Boxes and collecting pots and to the branch members involved with helping on the Static Stands.

The magnificent sum £8,357.36p was collected during the 2023 appeal.

We, like everyone reliant on the generosity of the community in challenging economic times, are humbled by the level of support we have received.  Not only have you ensured those who have sacrificed so much for us since the First World War, over one hundred years ago are remembered, you have also ensured the vital life-changing support that our Armed Forces Community needs and deserve can be accessed 365 days a year.

Welfare and well-being is at the heart of everything we do.  The RBL is committed to helping serving and ex-Service people in need with wide-ranging support services.  Whether it's families coping with the loss of a loved one, help at home to adapt to independent living, recovery centres for injured personnel, money and careers advice or residential care, the funds raised are vital to bridge the gap in public sector provision.

Our volunteers also provide emotional support and practical help in the local community, and also visit people who are housebound or in hospital.

Thank you again and please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those involved.

Yours sincerely

Jon Duckworth
