Minutes of the Meetingheld on 16 Nov 2016

 

  1. Meeting Opening: The Meeting opened at 19:05 hours with a Homage to The Fallen

  2. Present:There were 23 Members and 2 guests present.

  3. Apologies: There were 8 apologies

  4. Minutes of the last meeting:It was proposed by Jean Ellwood and seconded by Arthur Ellwood, that the Minutes of The Previous meeting be passed as read. Carried

  5. New Members: Chairman: At least three new members were recruited during the Poppy Drive, and The Chairman welcomed new member Susan Blyth

  6. Matter arising: Chairman: The Armistice day parade at Crystal Peaks was carried out dilligently and proficiently, and The Chairman thanked all involved. She read out a letter from The Deputy Lord Lieutenant in which he sent his congratulations, and she will send him a letter of thanks for coming to our parade' and will take up his suggestion to her to apply to the Lieutenancy Office early next year for him to attend next year

Bryan Green suggested that as well as parading the Branch Standard, we parade the Standard of The Union Flag next year

  1. Welfare: The Chairman welcomed Eric Colley back after a his recent inllness, and gave a brief update on Gwen Wilkinson and Chris Edwards.

  2. Agenda:

  • Secretary:Proposed by Phil Thickett, seconded by Steve Bush, that The Branch purchases two pairs of White Gauntlets for use by The Standard Bearer, at a cost not to exceed £60. Carried

  • Secretary: Proposed by Pat Davey, seconded by Steve Bush, that The Branch set up a “Twinning” with the branch at “Fort Erie Frontiere” in Ontario, Canada. Carried

  • Treasurer: A form is currently being circulated for attendance at the Pie'n'Peas evening in December

  • Secretary: The Annual Conference for 2017 will take place in Southport over the weekend of 20/21 May. The following paperwork is now available:

    • Application Forms for Branch Delegates to attend: (to be submitted by Fri 24 Mar 2017)

    • Certificate for Motions: (to be submitted by Fri 10 Feb 2017)

    • Question Form for Members Forum: (to be submitted by Fri 24 Mar 2017)

    • Nomination Forms for Candidates for Conference Committee 2017 – 2020: (to be submitted by Fri 10 Feb 2017)

  • Secretary: The S&W Yorks County Conference will be held in Ossett Town Hall on Saturday 7 Jan at 12 Noon, preceded by a Service of Remembrance at 1100. The following paperwork is now available:

 

    • Application Forms for Branch Delegates to attend: (to be submitted by Fri 16 Dec 2016)

    • Final Agenda. The Branch’s Motion for a “National Membership Recruitment Campaign” has been accepted for inclusion.

  • Chairman:There will be a Memorial Ceremony in Burngreave Cemetery on Sun 20 Nov 11:00 am. All are invited to attend.

  1. Treasurers/Poppy Sales Report:

  • 3rd W Fund: £1010.95

    • £50 was given to The Band in thanks for services on Armistice Day

  • Legion Fund: £380.34

  • Poppy Update 2015. The final figure was revised upwards as £55,311.00

  • Poppy Update 2016. The current figure is £56K, and is expected to rise.
