Minutes of the Meeting: held 17 July 2013

 

Meeting Opening: Meeting opened at 19:15 The Act of Homage was duly observed.

 

Present: There were 11 members and 1 guest present, Roll call available if required from the secretary.

 

Apologies: There was 5 apologies

 

 

Minutes of the last meeting: Proposed by Eric Colley, seconded by Dave Warburton that the Minutes of the Previous Meeting be passed as read. Carried.

 

Matter arising:

 

The following matters arose from the previous month’s minutes:

 

  • Alan Walker spoke about his visit to TSS Sheffield. The Chairman mentioned that the Certificate of Affiliation had arrived and that we should arrange a presentation ceremony with TSS in early August. Alan Walker said that he would make the arrangements.
  • Two members gave a brief overdue of the successful Sheffield Veterans’ Day
  • The Chairman stated that there was no update on the Mosborough Air Cadets’ affiliation
  • The Chairman announced that the Gazebo at Brinsworth Gala raised £60 for the branch funds
  • The Chairman offered use of The Gazebo for the Norfolk Park Bank Holiday Gala. Walter Whitely to discuss with Christine Spencer.
  • Those attending the Arboretum visit in June spoke of a very successful and enjoyable day and complimented the organisation.

 

 

 

Correspondence:

 

The following items of correspondence were dealt with:

 

  • Remembrance Day Parade and ticket applications
  • RBL Magazine Jun/Jul 2013
  • S&W County Newsletter Jun 2013
  • County nomination

 

 

 

Treasurers Report:

 

The Treasurer then gave a résumé of the following accounts:

 

  • Branch account fund
  • Year End Report.
  • Poppy Appeal Orders.
  • 3rd Wednesday Club

 

 

 

New members: Nil

 

Proposals: Nil

 

AOB:

 

  • Dave Warburton told of a meeting with the new manager at Crystal Peaks M&S and pointed out that she appears to be very amenable to sale of various items for the Poppy Appeal
  • Dave Warburton voiced a concern for the safety of Poppy Appeal Collection Tins.
  • The Chairman displayed a selection of Tea-Towels with a Military/Remembrance theme which will be available for sale at £3 each, making 90p for Poppy funds.
  • Walter Whitely spoke of Joint Council arrangements for the forthcoming Remembrance Parade
  • Dave Warburton invited Legion members to the RSA Eden Camp visit in September.
