Branch information

The Royal British Legion within the Nailsworth area was formed around 1927. There

is very little correspondence in terms of paper clippings or indeed a minute book.

Over the years the name of the Branch changed its name and as a result of a

meeting that took place on 19 January 1978, at the Jovial Foresters pub, it was

proposed “to form a Branch of the Royal British Legion, to incorporate Forest

Green – Nailsworth & District, including Windsoredge and Newmarket”. It was

eventually resolved to call the branch the “Forest Green & Nailsworth Branch”.

The Branch holds irregular coffee mornings throughout the year to which all are

welcome. In August 2018 the Chairman and Standard Bearer took part in the GP90

Remembrance week in France & Belgium and in October 2018 a Stain Glass Window

was dedicated in St George’s Church commemorating the fallen of both World Wars

and more recent conflicts.
