A Branch History

The Ford Branch was formed on 4th December 1931.  The first Chairman was Mr William Hordley King, who was school master at Ford school.  He served the Branch until 1945, being replaced by Mr Joseph W Gresty of Shoot Hill Farm, Ford. The Branch continued to grow and develop over time, later being renamed Ford & District Branch, taking in the parishes of Bicton and Shelton and Oxon.

Dedication of the medal cabinet in Ford Village Hall   4th October, 1974. Standard Bearers Mrs Gwen Smith and Mr Dennis Oakley, with Padre Rev Francis Smythe and Mr Arthur Ingham.

             

Presentation of the 50 year pendant in 1981.   

         

         

Dedication service in 1983 for the plaque in Bicton Church yard to Wing Com. Mitchell

   

1989 Gold Badge presented to Mr Ben Dodd.

             

1991 Life memberships presented to Mr Arthur Ingham and

Mr Fredrick Roberts.

 

 

The Branch published its first newsletter in April 1994, and has continued to keep in touch with its members in this way.
