V J Day 2025

The Fallen 
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. 
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
         We will remember them.

On Friday 15th August. Evesham and District Royal British Legion held a V J Day, Remembrance parade.
This took place at the War memorial in Abbey park at 10:45hrs.
In attendance was the  Deputy Lieutenant Mrs Fiona Charney J.P. Representing the Lord Lieutenant and H.R.H.the King. The Mayor of Evesham John Clatworthy and Mayoress Councillor  Marion Griffiths. Deputy Mayor Bill Kimberley and his Wife Celia. Evesham M.P. Nigel Huddleston. Councillors Ann Lyon, Robert Hale, Sharon Hemming, Sue Amor, John Smith OBE and his Wife Frances. Jennifer Johnson Chairperson of Evesham RAF association.
The service was conducted by our President and Branch Padre, the Reverend Andy Green.
Readings were read by.

Around 70 people in total were gathered around the War Memorial in the park. It was a hot morning with temperatures in the high 20c.
Next year we should be back at the memorial outside the Almonry. This year was changed due to the Burma Star plaque being taken away for refurbishment.
