On Sunday the 4th February 2018 the 44th Anniversary of the coach bomb that killed 9 soldiers and 3 family members in 1974 was held at Hartshead Moor Services on the West bound carriageway of the M62 motorway. Several dignitaries were present that included Major S. Hardy (deputy Lord Lieutenant), The Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Ferman Ali and Mayoress Mrs Shaheen Ali, The Mayor of Kirklees Councillor Christine Iredale and Consort Robert Iredale, and The Mayor of Oldham Councillor Shadab Qumer and Mayoress Mrs Qumer.   The service ws conducted by the Chaplain of the Spenborough Branch of the Royal British Legion Mr Terry Brewis.
