The Leeds Group Royal British Legion took part in the Annual Pilgrimage to the Leeds Pals Memorial on Sunday the 2nd July 2017. The memorial is based at Colsterdale in North Yorkshire where the Leeds Pals Regiment trained before leaving to take part in the battle of the Somme in 1916.
The service was conducted by Venerable Paul Ayers Archdeacon of Leeds. Also present was the Lord Mayor of Leeds Councillor Jane Dawson who laid a wreath during the service.
A detachment of Army Cadets came from Catterick and took part during the service to do a reanactment of the 1st July 1916 when the Leeds Pals went over the top in the battle of the Somme.

Taking part in the service was verious standards, the Lord Mayor of Leeds Jane Dawson in the center and on the right is the Arch Deacon Paul Ayres who conducted the service.
