Allied Air Forces Memorial Day
The annual Allied Air Forces Memorial Day was held on Sunday the 3rd September 2017 at the Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington near York. The parade was made to the main hangar where a drum head ceremony was carried out followed by an award of a Legion d'Honneur to a RAF veteran Mr Robert McClements by the French Honorary Consul.
Before the parade and service a new arrival at the museum of a French Mirage Bomber was unveiled.

The unveiling ceremony was watched by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and several of high ranking officers of the French, Belgian and Canasian Air Force.

An impressive Halifax Bomber is behind the alter in the main hangar where the service is to be held after the parade.
