On Saturday 16th August the East Preston and Kingston RBL held a VJ Day Commemoration event from 14:00hrs.
The day started with a very special talk by member Laurence Pilfold, who gave a very moving account of his father, who served in WW2 and was a PoW in Japan. This was a very poignant talk about experiences both during the war and back home.
Following this the day continued with the Glen Miller Swing band and Opera Singer Rosie, into the evening we had Broken Box perform to a still packed Club.
The day proved to be a great success and the Club was full throughout the day.
Thanks to everyone who helped organise and those who attended and made the day a successful remembrance of an important date that is often forgotten.
