MONTHLY BRANCH EVENTS:
BRANCH MEETING
Duston and District Branch of the Royal British Legion meet on the
2nd Thursday of every month @ 7:30pm St Crispins Club, Berrywood Road, Duston, Northampton, NN54XD
Everyone is welcome. We have a lot of events coming up at our meetings with guest speakers coming in to do talks about many different historical events including WWl, WWll and many other subjects related to Duston and the surrounding Northamptonshire area.
We also do branch quizzes, race nights and many other events to raise money for the branch and local community initiatives so please pop along for a drink, chat and meet some new people.
First guest speaker event at our branch meeting will be on 13th July 2023 and we welcome Terry Whenham to the branch.
Terry is a historian, battlefield and war grave guide specialist there isn’t much he doesn’t know about WW1 and WW2 especially when it comes to Northamptonshire.
LUNCH CLUB (Hosted by the Women's Section)
This is held at The Squirrels Pub, 31-33 Main Road, Duston, NN5 6JF
@ 12.00pm on the 2nd Monday of each month.
ALL ARE WELCOME to join us in this newly refurbished beautiful thatched public house with plenty of choice on the pubs new menu.
Come along and enjoy meeting new people, eating some lovely tasty food and have some fun.

Duston and District Supper Saturday 17th June 2023
Members of the Branch are invited to our monthly Supper Saturday.
As variety is the spice of life we change the date and location of the Restaurant every month to keep it fresh, so suggestions are always welcome!
The next Supper Saturday is on the 17th June 2023, 6pm @ The Cromwell Cottage 1 High Street, Kislingbury, Northampton, NN74AG

Armed Forces Day 24th June 2023
Duston Branch will be collecting donations on 24th June @ Sainsburys and Rothersthorpe services (North and South) J15a M1 for Armed forces day for multiply armed forces charities.

Duston Fun Day 25th June 2023
Duston and District Branch will have a stand at Duston fun day on the 25th June. We will be promoting the Royal British Legion and having a recruitment event, hoping to add new members to our Branch. There will be plenty of fun things to do and lots of Poppy related merchandise there raising money for the Poppy Appeal 2023.

Up and coming Branch Trips:
Black Country Living Museum
Duston and District Branch have arranged a coach trip to the
Black Country Living museum in Birmingham on the 10th June.
The coach will be leaving from outside St Crispins Club Duston @ 8:30am and we should arrive back in Duston around 5:30pm
The price for the coach is £15 per person and your entry fee for the museum will be paid on arrival, so we can get the best price as a group booking, as the prices differ for different age ranges of our group so please bear in mind you’ll need cash.

Poppy Factory:
Duston branch are planning a trip to Poppy Factory in Richmond on Friday 7th July. We were hoping to do this at the weekend but unfortunately they no longer open at weekends. So we are looking for numbers for this trip so the price is TBC. Please contact our branch Secretary on [email protected] if you are interested.
This will be a great day out learning where all the poppies we sell are made and will take you to the heart of where every poppy and wreath is made and has been made since 1922.
The Poppy factory has offered veterans with mental and physical health conditions a supportive place of employment, making poppies, wreaths and other Remembrance products.
The factory is based in Richmond upon Thames and has 22 production workers and two special wreath makers. They make around 100,000 wreaths and 250 Royal and special wreaths each year. More information available via the link below:

Operation Market Harborough:
Duston Branch are looking at running a mini bus if there is interest for Operation Market Harborough on the Saturday 5th August 2023.
Operation Market Harborough is the new name for Harborough at war. This event is taking place on the 5th and 6th August 2023 @ the Market Harborough Showground LE16 7QB.
It is a WW2 and post war military and living history event featuring Military Vehicles, Re-enactment displays, living history and entertainment.
Ticket prices are: Adults £10, Children 5-15 £8, OAP £8, Veterans and Disabled £8, Children under 5 go free. Family (2 Adults & 2 Childrens) £30
