Remembrance Parade 13/11/22

Diss Remembrance Parade 2022.

There has been since 1920`s a Remembrance event in Diss and this year was no difference.

Sunday 13th November saw a Remembrance Parade, Wreath Laying Service and Church service at St Marys, Diss.

The Parade which marched off from the Mere at 14:20 was lead by the Town Clerk, Sarah Richardson, with the Salvation Army band, plus Standard Bearers with the Union Flag, Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association, Air Cadets, Army Cadets and other Youth Groups.

These were followed by a total of 35 Wreath Bearers which included Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk, Local Government, Central Government, RBL, RAFA, Royal Navy, Royal Engineers, Anglian Regiment, Bomber Command, Diss Rugby, Diss Bowls Clubs, Police, Fire and other services, Woman Institute, Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, Diss Football Club, Diss Angling, Park Radio and the Co-Op and Rosedale Funerals, plus members of the public, some of which represented the above Associations and finally Dave Hines in American Army Uniform and WW2 Jeep.

After going through the Crowds lining the street, the Salute was taken at the Market Place by the deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk, plus various dignities including MP Richard Bacon, the Mayor of Diss and representatives of both Central and Local Government, plus Diss Town Councillors.

The parade then split in to three groups, Wreath Bearers, to the right, making their way to the side of St Marys Church, Standards to the left along with Cadet Forces up Bank Hill then turned down in to St Nicholas Street, with the Salvation Army Band and the rest of the Parade going straight on to the Church, followed by the Public.

The Wreath Layers were called out in order and after handing their Wreaths to the Cadets at the War Memorial, stood behind the Salvation Army Band.

After the Wreath Laying Service lead by the Rev John Cruise, there was a Church Service including the Various Dignities, plus Cadets and Members of Local Groups and the Public.
