We’re the country’s largest Armed Forces charity, being formed in 1921.
We employ around 1,800 people across the country to campaign on behalf of the Armed Forces Community, deliver support services, lead Remembrance, raise funds to support our work and develop and run the organisation and our network of membership branches.
The Aims of the Royal British Legion, fully supported by our Patron, King Charles III, is to champion the interests of Serving and ex-Serving Personnel and Campaign on Key Issues to help to Improve their lives and make their voices heard.
We often call on Members of the Public to add their support helping us to make a real impact, especially with the Poppy Apparel, every October and November, where for 14 days we remind the public of the sacrifices made by our Armed Services.
The Legions work is 365 day a year, with the Legion Homes and the support to the Armed Forces family who have been injured by Physically and Mentally.
There are approximately 2,500 Royal British Legion Branches across the UK and overseas, with over 180,000 members.
Our Headquarters are Haigh House in London.
The RBL motto is Service, not Self.
In 2007, the Royal British Legion launched the HONOUR THE COVENANTS which call on the Government to honour the Military Covenant.
Within Scotland, a sister Organisation to the RBL, the Royal British Legion, Scotland, which operates on the same Basis as the RBL.
