A reception was held at the club for Les, where he was presented with his Ushakov Medal for his services on the Arctic Convoys to Russia during WW2.

Alec represented Les when the medal was first presented on December 19th 2014 at County Hall in Exeter, in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant  Sir Eric Dancer and Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Sergey Nalobin.

The reception at the club was attended by Les, his daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchild.

He received his medal from Branch President Lt Cmdr Tom Elliot MBE RN Rtd after Branch Chairman Alec Fewings had read a citation that was delivered by the Russian Government and signed by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
