Copythorne

We are a very lively and active group that meets once a month (except August) at our Legion Hall.

The meeting starts with a short business meeting.

Following the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and a number of Officer reports, members then discuss items of interest and importance.

After a short tea and coffee break: - the remainder of the meeting takes the form of social interaction.  We introduce various activities, games and regularly listen to visiting speakers.

Becoming a member of the Copythorne & District Branch not only provides an opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events locally but we have close links with the Royal British Legion, both regionally and nationally.

We recommend that you explore the Hampshire County website and the Legion's national site through links on the bottom left of our Home page.

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces - past and present - and their families.

The Legion is also the National Custodian of Remembrance, ensuring that Remembrance is kept alive and that the sacrifices our brave Service men and women have made are never forgotten.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.

It safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces, provides the ex-Service community with a voice and ensures that their concerns are brought to the public eye.

The Royal British Legion is, of course, best known for the Poppy Appeal in November and its emblem the red poppy, although our fundraising efforts extend across the 52 weeks of the year.

Copythorne & District Branch members support all that the Royal British Legion holds dear and our over-riding aims are to maintain and (if possible) enlarge our Branch membership, maintain the high level of fundraising within Copythorne and the surrounding districts, and to provide a welfare support service and a programme of social activity that provides a vehicle for camaraderie in the very best interests of our members.
