Branch AGM Tuesday 21 October 2025
The President gave a review of last year's activities.
The branch with nearly 70 members had remained active, with the benefit of our hall which is well used and maintained by the members. Monthly meetings attract nearly 20 members and some guests. Meetings were followed by some excellent speakers.
The Remembrance Service at the War Memorial was preceded by a magnificent parade, especially the Scout and Guide Sections, and led by the Scout and Guide band.
Poppy Appeal had reached a grand total of £19,659.11 - thanks to Helen and Denise.
On Thursday 8th May the Parish Hall hosted a memorable VE80 day anniversary with the help of The WI, Parish Council , History Society and the Branch. Those present saw a compilation of newsreel film at the end of the war in 1945 presented by Trevor Rice, a concert and lighting of a beacon by 3 veterans. This was followed on Saturday 10th by a 'war time' meal, entertainment and dancing. These events raised £518.69 for the Poppy Appeal.
On 15th August the VJ80 anniversary was celebrated by a two minutes silence at the RBL Hall at mid-day.
The treasurer reported a good year financially with an increase to branch funds. Unfortunately, hall bookings had halved and the hall had made a small loss over the year.
Membership has decreased from 71 to 62 members. John Stubbington had to stand down and was presented with a branch certificate by the branch president as a mark of esteem and appreciation for his role of Membership Sectretary
The committee members were re-elected individually - and thanked for their effort for the past year. Alan Fee joined the committee
Future plans for 2025/26 include a push to increase the membership of the Branch..
