The Step Short Memorial Arch
A monthly Step Short Remembrance Service is no longer held, but other Remebrance Events throughout the year are held there or nearby all are welcome to attend these events.. Click for Directions
The Arch will serve to mark the role Folkestone played and commemorate the thousands of lives lost and millions of men and nurses who left the harbour bound for the horrors of the battlefields of World War One.
It replaces an arch that stood at the top of the Road of Remembrance (which was renamed from The Slope Road after the war) during the 1920s and 1930s.
Details about the Arch can be found on the Step Short Facebook Page and Website (click on links)
Information about it's construction and unveilling can also be found on the Kent On Line site , the Centenary News site.
