Byfield's Parish Council has purchased and installed a "park bench" in memoriam to those that fell in all our wars but in particular that terrible conflict of 1914 to 1918, whose tragic effects were felt in our district and elsewhere long after it ended.

As you'll be informed elsewhere in these pages, The Brightwell is also a memorial, the land being donated by a father in memory of his son, who was killed in the First World War.
