This year, as last, (and probably many before this Web site came on the air) the Warwickshire Chapter of the Riders' Branch of the Royal British Legion assembled at the Long Itch Diner north of Southam soon after noon on a dreary Saturday 16th December 2017 for mugs of tea, bacon sarnies and their annual "Santa's run" to Galanos House.

Byfield & District RBL were there too but in a car this year, with a boot loaded with boxes and bags of bathroom stuff, cosmetics AND A CAKE donated by our Members; a particular thank you is owed to eight of those who participated.

I think the following photo record really says it all. The Riders are a jolly bunch and the ladies and gents residents of Galanos House, and the wonderful staff and volunteers there were appreciative of the effort.

As you can see, tea and tabnabs were provided to welcome us. The people in the last few pics show our Vernon and Alison in conversation with a resident and visitor respectively, old Bill (with the card showing an Ariel Square 4), who built bikes at the Ariel factory, and probably worked on our Alan's machine (see last year) and Tim Fountain of the RBLR, who organised it all. Apologies to the guy on the trike, and the rest of the gang, whose names escape me (probably due to anno Domini) all of whom were very festive and all of whom joined in with a hearty rendition of "Happy Birthday" to a lady whose birthday it was; she seemed somewhat overwhelmed!

This event, and its beneficiary are fine examples of what the RBL is all about; it is a privilege to see the fruition of some of our collective efforts.

Finally, the poppy above is a 3m square wall plaque and was made by residents of Galanos House, just one of the regular craft activities they get involved in.
