The Buckhurst Hill branch of the Royal British Legion was formally setup in 1934 although prior to that there was an intial branch in place around 1920 not long after the end of the Great war. But little is known about events and activities in that time and it did not survive past 1927 due to reasons explained in a book called 'World War 2 Memories and local History' which was completed to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the branch and was compiled by John W Bonner and Deryck Selby with help and support from a range of people and members of the RBL Buckhurst Hill Branch and community.
This books give a good account of the Buckhurst Hill Branch and the members as well as the local history of Buckhurst Hill and the community at the time .
