There will be some poppies etc available at the RBL monthly socials however if you would like any wreaths, wooden crosses or other poppy related items please email Karen at karenlockwood@btopenworld.com. We would ask that you are patient as the Branch’s first order is pending delivery.
If you are aware of any British organisations in Brittany who may like to have some poppies together with a collection box please let Karen know.
OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all well. Sorry for the late update again, but I had another unscheduled trip to the UK and I have only recently got back.
A big thank you to everyone who attended the previous lunches as it’s good to see the numbers are increasing with so many new faces. The October social is rapidly approaching and we hope you will all be able to make it. We will be holding it at the Carpaccio Ristorante on Rue du Caire, Pontivy on Thursday 5th October at 12:00hrs.
There will be the ever popular easy topical Quiz, a book stall and a raffle. Donations for raffle prizes are welcome.
You don’t have to be a member of the RBL to attend, so please do come along and bring your friends.
With the ever increasing number the venue has asked for the number of attendees, so if you think you will be attending would you please let me know by e-mailing karenlockwood@btopenworld.com with the number attending by Monday 2nd October.
Recently the VIE magazine asked Greg, our Chairman, to write an article about the Branch for inclusion in the latest’s edition. FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
Hello Everyone,
I hope you all had a special Valentine’s Day and are enjoying the daffodils heralding the onset of spring.
In future these newsletters and any other relevant information, social events, forthcoming ceremonies etc will be published on both our branch website and Facebook page.
The branch enjoyed our first lunch social of the year which was held at Le Relais de L'Oust, Lanouée and was well attended. Many thanks to you all for your ongoing support attending these.
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the next social lunch due to be held Tuesday 7th March has been CANCELLED. We will however be holding a lunch on Tuesday 21st March at the Lanterne Rouge Chinese restaurant in Pontivy starting at 12:00. Anyone who wishes to come along please let me know by Saturday 18th.
The next lunch social will be held on Tuesday 4th April at 12:00hrs at Le Relais de L'Oust, Lanouée.
There will be the usual topical Quiz, a Raffle, together with books and DVDs for sale. As always donations of raffle prizes are most welcome.
This is an ideal opportunity to see friends you have not seen for a while and have a good old catch up. It is not essential that you are a member of the RBL to attend so please do come along and bring your friends who have not been before. The venue requires the number of attendees, so if you think you will be attending please would you let me know by replying to this e-mail advising the number attending.
We are looking at a number of options for additional social events in 2023 and would be most grateful for any ideas and suggestions you may have.
The Branch has been busy over the past Month including attending a number of local ceremonies which were supported by RBL Brittany members. Jean Michel Crewe attended a ceremony in Finistère whilst Colin and Christine Daniel attended a ceremony in Lorient. Details of these ceremonies can be found below.
Well I am off to go and do some much needed gardening,
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Kind Regards
Karen Lockwood

NOTE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
It has come to my attention that comments have been made by branch members that the AGM in November was not held correctly. This was the first proper AGM to be held for some time, so prior to the meeting the RBL Managers handbook was consulted to ensure it was conducted correctly. The guidelines were followed during the meeting and minutes of the meeting recorded. I have again read the latest version of the Handbook and I can assure you that the AGM was held in accordance with the guidelines. If you have any concerns regarding the AGM please contact me directly and I will willingly discuss the matter with you. Please do not talk to other ‘Experts’ on the matter and spread un-true statements.
POPPY APPEAL 2022
Well done again to the Branch for their efforts in raising funds for the Poppy Appeal, and of course a special thank you goes out to our fabulous Poppy Appeal Coordinator Kate Curtis.
