NEWSLETTER - 25th October 2015

Absolutely last minute news - You may like to take the opportunity to see the Lac de Guerledan before it is refilled, so on this Wednesday,October the 28th, a lunch has been arranged at the Merlin Restaurant, Anse de Sordan, 56480, Saint-Aignan. We will have a room overlooking the lake, and of course you could also take a walk in this lovely area. Booking is essential as soon as possible with Kate - 02 97 39 60 69 andpoppyappeal@rblbrittany.fr The cost will be 15€ for two courses, and you can choose either entrée and main course, or main course and dessert when you book. Drinks are not included, but you can buy your own, of course. The menu is - Terrine de Campagne de Melrand, Rôti de Porc à la Bretonne sauce au cidre, Far Breton or glace vanille Terre Bleue de Cléguérec. Special arrangements can be made for vegetarians if you tell me when you book.

Poppy boxes are being delivered all over Brittany and elsewhere, so if you need anything, or can take a box, please make contact with your Poppy  Appeal Organiser, Kate - 02 97 39 60 69 or poppyappeal@rblbrittany.fr If you would like a cross or wreath laid in Normandy or elsewhere, please ask me  and we will do our best to arrange this.

On October the 26th, there will be a coffee morning in aid of the Poppy appeal at La Lande de Boloré, 56480, Saint-Aignan, between 10 and 12 noon, where ‘Tricia will be selling her lovely greetings cards. Booking would be appreciated and I can send directions if you need them.

At the VE/VJ End of War Tea-party, a plate was left behind. So if you are missing one, please let me know. The final profit was 680.04€. 

NEWSLETTER – 15th October 2015

On October the 31st, the Standard and Chairman will be present at a ceremony at Carantec, Finistere at 1600 hrs, during which the presentation of a  medal – Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, will be made to Rev. On November the 8th, we will have our Royal British Legion Remembrance Service at Saint Bartholomews Church, Dinard, starting at 10.45am.

Don’t forget the next social at the Relais de L’Oust will be on November the 3rd, and the AGM is on 24th of November. The light buffet will be served  from noon, and the meeting starts at 1 pm. Please come.

The Christmas Lunch will be held at the Relais de l’Oust, Josselin on December 15th. Bookings are being taken by Dorothy, the events organiser. events@rblbrittany.fr

NEWSLETTER - 30th September 2015

The next social will be on October the 6th, as usual at the Relais de L’Oust near Josselin. All are welcome as always, members and non-members.

On the 5th October at Guidel there will be a ceremony starting at 10.30 hrs in the cemetery. The Chairman and Standard bearer will be in attendance.

The Victory tea-party made a profit of 675.04€ and we would like to thank all those who attended and helped to make it such a success.

8th May 70th Anniversary of VE Day at Saint Aignan 56480. Ceremony at 1100 hrs at the War Memorial.
10th May Liberation of the town of Guidel 56520 in 1945. Ceremony at 1000 hrs at the cemetery in the town.
16th May Memorial National to the French Marins at Pointe Saint Mathieu near Plougonvelin 29217. Ceremony 1600 hrs.

8th May at Brignogan-Plages Mike Jones will represent the Branch for VE Day and the loss lives of the Canadian Frigate Athabaskan in 1945 off the coast of this village.
8th May Carol Welsh will lay a wreath in Vaufleury Cemetery, Laval during a ceremony to honour of two Halifax Crews who were shot down on 10 June 1944

NEWSLETTER 23rd FEBRUARY 2015 - On Saturday February the 28th, our branch of the Royal British Legion will be present at a ceremony in Fouesnant in Finistere in conjunction with our French friends of the ANT-TRN. For further details, please contact the Chairman on chairman@rblbrittany.fr.

Please do not forget the usual monthly social at the Relais de l'Oust near Josselin. The next one is on March the 3rd  when we hope to see you.

If you would like to order any wreaths and are either able to collect from us, or if we are able to meet you for delivery, please put your order in as soon as possible, as we may be able to have them delivered to us free of postage costs.

CHINESE NEW YEAR - The Lantern Rouge in Pontivy is closed this year from just before Chinese New Year until March 2nd.  We have booked our annual Chinese get together for the 4th March, 12.00 for 12.30.  Names please before the end February so we can give numbers to them to prepare a large table for us.  No money before-hand, you all pay for yourselves on the day.  The meal costs about 11€ and drinks are extra.  The address is : rue Joseph Quilliou 56300 Pontivy.  Bookings please to events@rblbrittany.fr
