On a recent visit to France Ian Taylor, a member of the Brampton & District Branch, visited the Hillman Fort site in Normandy as part of the D-Day Celebrations and also to lay a wreath for Cecil Deller our late Normandy veteran who passed away on Christmas Eve.

Cecil served in the Suffolk Regiment who landed on Sword Beach and took part in the subsequent attack on 'Hillman'.

Ian was met by several locals who were preparing the site for the forthcoming D Day Celebrations and who had met Cecil on numerous occasions.

After laying the wreath a moment of reflection was held before Ian and his wife Karen were given a tour of the museum and site.

Later that day Ian and Karen visited the British Memorial and viewed the “Standing With Giants” display.
