2025 Bodmin Celebrates V.J. Day
Today 15th August 2025, we gathered at Mount Folly Square to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan), the moment that brought the Second World War to an end.
Led by the Deputy Lieutenant, High Sheriff, and the Chairman of the Bodmin Branch of the Royal British Legion, the mayoral party and town councillors paraded to the war memorial at Priory Park. There, we paused for a two-minute silence in remembrance, followed by the planting of a tree to honour and give thanks to all who served, sacrificed, and endured.
Our sincere thanks go to Reverend Elaine for her words and prayers, to Bodmin Town Band, the bugler Tracey Underwood, and the standard bearers for their presence and support in helping us pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of so many.
