Blyth, Northumberland

Most associations rely on a voluntary committee, to organise their club/society ... and the RBL is no different.  To try and give current and potentially new Branch members, an idea as to who are the Blyth Branch committee members, I've included some details below:

Gill Courtney MBE

I started my career working in the banking sector, first in retail and then sales roles.  After having children, I then moved to higher education and worked for a regional university in commercial roles within business development and technology transfer.  I later joined the family engineering business as a Director and owner of Wessington Cryogenics Limited.  We manufacture and supply cryogenic pressure vessels for scientific and engineering research, oil and gas and other industrial gas applications worldwide.

I am active on a number of regional boards which included serving for five years as a founder business board member of the North East L.E.P board, I am currently Vice-President of the North East of England Chamber of Commerce, and a non-executive Director of the Entrepreneurs forum board.

In 2012, I was very proud to be awarded with an MBE in recognition for my service to North East industry.

Away from work, I am married to Billy who was a former Sergeant with the Grenadier Guards.  We have an extended family of five, a crazy Wheaten Terrier and a rescue German Shepard to keep us busy, day to day.

As a relative newcomer to Blyth, I have been welcomed and this town now feels like home to me.  I am very honoured that I can serve this community by supporting the great work of our branch, in my role as President but also by helping out as an active member, in whichever way I can.
