🔴 VE Day 80 Commemoration - Thursday 8th May 2025

Thursday 8th May 2025 will mark the 80th Anniversary of the end of World War 2 in Europe – VE Day.

10.50am - The War Memorial
The community are invited to join us at the War Memorial where The Royal British Legion Bishop’s Stortford Branch will be organising a commemoration in Castle Park, led by Branch President John B Robinson AFC*. Contributions from local schools and youth organisations will be coordinated by teacher Kathy Canavan.

2pm - Afternoon Quiz 
The Royal British Legion Bishop’s Stortford Branch will be holding a quiz in the bar area at South Mill Arts commencing at 2pm. There will be no charge but of course donations to the Poppy Appeal will be very welcome. Booking is essential as there are a restricted number of places available.

3pm - A recording of Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s announcement of Peace in Europe will be played.

7pm - Celebration Event for VE Day 80th Anniversary at South Mill Arts
The unique 1940’s Blitz Show & Dance Band, Five Star Swing, will be performing. Famous War-Time tunes & “sing-a-long” songs brought to life by the singers and multi-instrumentalists. As featured at Dame Vera Lynn’s Charity Gala Nights.
