SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom that we enjoy today. This year, 2019, it's 10th of November, the day before Armistice Day
We meet at the Salutation pub on Billingham Green at about 1000 where tea and coffee is very kindly provided for us and march to the cenotaph in Station Road. Those unable to march or walk that distance can meet us at the cenotaph. Last year (2018) over five hundred gathered for the service.
Later on Remembrance Sunday, at 1445, we carry out a smaller service with wreath laying at the cenotaph in Port Clarence.
