On 8th August 2018 The Royal British Legion held a unique re-enactment of a pilgrimage to Ypres first held in 1928. Named GP90, the event involved over 1050 branches, each represented by their standard bearer and wreath layer. The event saw the largest collection of legion standards and personnel march through the Menin Gate in Ypres. Billingham Branch was represented by standard bearer John Stirling and wreath layer Alan Sturdy, Judith Gallaher laid a wreath on behalf of Northumbria County.
