Bampton Shirt Race 2015

Over the Whitsun weekend it is a village tradition to hold the annual shirt race. This year a few of our members and friends got together and decided we could take this opportunity to raise our profile in the village.

So we took some wood and a saw and produced an eight foot by seven foot wooden poppy on wheels. We then proceeded to push it around the village during the race with the other participants.

We were also hugely honoured that our President Mr Brian 'Dixie' Deane volunteered to sit in the chariot while we pushed it around.

We did have one small advantage as there is an area of the course which is almost exactly seven feet wide which meant that no other racer could pass during this point.

We did not manage to win the race or the fancy dress but we do believe that the local community can now see that the Branch is as active as ever.
