Lord Mayor's Wreath laying Ceremony Thur 8th Nov 2012
On Thursday 8th November 2012 a special Service took place in Armagh when the Lord Mayor, SDLP Councillor Sharon Haughey, laid a poppy wreath at the city War Memorial on behalf of Armagh City and District Council.
Our Branch had invited the Lord Mayor to attend our Remembrance Sunday Service, when the Council’s wreath is traditionally laid with all the other wreaths. Councillor Haughey was unable to attend on 11th November due to prior commitments (I understand she was getting married on that day) and had asked if our Branch could accommodate a special Service to allow her to lay the Council wreath, which she greatly desired to do. We were happy to arrange this special Service.
We thank Armagh City and District Council for assisting us in making these special arrangements to honour those men and women from within the City and District area who gave their lives in the Service of their country.
We also thank those Branch Members, Standard Bearers and supporters who attended this early Service of Remembrance.
