Remembrance: To finish marking the WW1 Centenaries in a dignified and respectful manner, and to focus on WW2 and other conflicts as we move on to 2018/20. To show respect to those from all parts of the community who died in Service. To continue to develope relationships with the Churches within the city and surrounding area, and to encourage their participation in organised Acts of Remembrance.
Welfare Support: To continue to deliver the best service possible to all beneficiaries identified to the Welfare Support Committee. To respect the dignity and confidentiality of those beneficiaries visited. Monthly visits will take place where appropriate, but in cases where more frequent visits are required, visits will occur as frequent as the beneficiary requires them. Volunteers from outside of the Welfare Support Committee can be used when necessary to provide the necessary cover needed to carry out Welfare Support Visits.
Poppy Appeal: To continue to work to increase the Annual Popy Appeal collection for as long as possible during 2018. We depend on the generosity of the local people for this support, and acknowledge that this genorosity will be affected by other influences. To encourage more volunteers for the various methods of collection, whether from amongst the Membership or from outside of it.
Branch/Club Mebership: It is desirable to at least maintain membership numbers above the 300 level, as this gives the Branch two delegates votes at District and National Confrence. Our membes are encouraged to endeavour to recruit younger members in to both Branch and Club.
Community Partnerships and Relations: Our recent WWI Commemorations have raised the profile of both Branch and Club through the cross-community and cross-border representations of those participating. We need to continue to develop the contacts made with local cross-community groups, and encourage their participation at future Acts of Remembrance. Having had the two Primates of All Ireland officiate at our most recent Service has again made a strong, positive statement within our communities about our position as a non-sectarian, non-political organisation which we should continue to develop. The cross-border contacts established through this same Service should be built upon as we try to encourage deeper British-Irish relations. Our profile as a Branch within both Northern Ireland District and the Republic of Ireland District of TRBL has been greatly enhanced through our WWI Commemoration Services, and this should be built upon as we plan Commemoration Services in the years of 2018 and beyond are planned. Our existing informal partnership with Saint Patrick’s Conference, Saint Vincent de Paul in Armagh through the Over 60’s Brolly Club and the delivery of ‘support parcels’ and hampers throughout the community at Christmas must be maintained and, where possible developed, to the mutual benefit of both organisations. It is the responsibility of all Office Bearers and Committee Members to be ambassadors for their Branch and Club as we carry forward our plans for the next three-year term, and to participate as fully as possible in both Branch and Club events.
