Ypres

29 September to 17 October 2015

Exhibition Poster

An exhibition brought together by The Royal British Legion Ypres Branch.

The exhibition takes you through time from the birth of The Royal British Legion, the subsequent formation of the Ypres Branch, to present day.

On our brief review of history, we encounter the Ypres League, Eton Memorial School, Saint George's Memorial Church and the pilgrimages of the 1920s and 1930s.

The focal point of the exhibition is a Field of Remembrance where visitors can plant poppies in Remembrance of loved ones.  These poppies will eventually be planted in The Flanders' Field of Poppies at the Ramparts above the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial at the beginning of November.

Visitors will also be given the opportunity to make their own TRBL poppy and participate in the 'Post It' wall.

Contributors to the exhibition include:

  • The Royal British Legion
  • Commonwealth War Graves Commission
  • In Flanders Fields Museum
  • Last Post Association
  • National Memorial Arboretum
  • The Poppy Factory
  • The School of History of the University of Kent in cooperation with Gateways to the First World War.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available in our 'vintage' tea room.
