Armistice & Remembrance 2020

A very different Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day in 2020 with the limitations required by COVID-19.

Sadly there was no Remembrance Parade or service. Thus organisations and individuals were requested to lay their wreaths at the War Memorial at their convenience.

The children of St. Cuthbert's School very thoughtfully painted pebbles and laid them at the War Memorial.

At 11.00 on both days people were asked to observe 2 minutes silence on their doorsteps.

A small socially distanced group, including Town Councillors and the Police, gathered at the War Memorial on Wednesday 11 November. A recording of the Last Post was played followed by 2 minutes silence then additional wreaths added (to those laid on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November).
