Welcome to the Wimborne Branch of The Royal British Legion
The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.
Sunday 10th November 2019 - 2pm
The 2019 Remembrance Day Service will be held in the Wimborne Minster Church at 1500 hrs on Sunday 10th November.
1400 hrs - Gather at the Royal British Legion in West Borough
1430 hrs - The Parade will form up in the Royal British Legion car park
1440 hrs - The Parade will march off to the Minster Church for the service preceded by the Wessex Marching Band
1500 hrs - Remembrance Service in the Wimborne Minster Church
1540 hrs - Wreath-laying at the War Memorial
The Parade will then re-form and march back to the Royal British Legion, passing the saluting dais where the salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorset.
The parade will then be dismissed
All are invited to the RBL Legion where tea and biscuits will be served
Monday 11th November - starting at 10.45
Armistice Day will be commemorated by a short service on the Minster Green, followed by 2 Minutes Silence at 11am on Monday 11th November 2019 at the War Memorial on the Minster Green, Wimborne. This will be followed by the laying of one Wreath.
