Preparing for the Poppy Appeal in Wilmslow
We place our order for products for the Appeal in June...They start arriving in July and August.
Poppies come in all shapes and sizes
A team of volunteers starts by making up the familiar Boxes of Poppies that you see in local businesses.
As well as Poppies we also have a number of other products available for a donation to the Poppy Appeal; including a selection of wrist bands for men and women and we now have a variety of coloured wrist bands for children
Some of the boxes we prepare only contain Poppy Pins.
The small crosses are always very popular and are used to remember loved ones. Last year a number of you told me that you put them in your window boxes and for the first time ever, I did the same and was very pleased with the result.
We have tried to include 1 or 2 in every box we deliver to local businesses, and they will be readily available at our manned Poppy Stalls at both Sainsbury's & Waitrose. They will also be available at the Royal British Legion Club on Grove Avenue.
We prepare 'mixed' boxes for the Cadets to take around Wilmslow Town Centre. No matter what the weather is like, be it rain, snow, hail, wind or sunshine, our Cadets support the Appeal and never let us down. So if you see them out and about, please do say 'Hello' and see what they have available for a donation.
This is a finished Cadets box.
There are some 500 prepared Poppy Boxes that are awaiting delivery during October and we are always looking for volunteers to help deliver and collect the boxes.
This year, you may see a few of our beautiful Poppy-shaped Poppy Boxes in some local businesses.
Also back by popular demand are the Ladies adjustable bracelets. Each bracelet is engraved "Shoulder to shoulder with all Who Serve". As with our other special products, these will be available from our Cadets, the manned stalls at Sainsbury's & Waitrose, the Royal British Legion Club on Grove Avenue and Hoopers.
With your help and generosity, we can improve on the total that was raised last year which would be great in this commemorative year.
