WW1 Centenary Commemoration Event Aug 25, 2018
Our WW1 centenary exhibition to mark the end of WW1 was held in Warkworth War Memorial Hall on Saturday, 25 August 2018.
We held an exhibtion organised by Secretary June Watson on the 1918 events during the war and included the story of the Suffragettes. We had a lot of support on the day with entertainers The Seatones, who sang wartime songs, Beverley Palin who played her rare trench organ and told us all how it worked, Warkworth Woemens Institute who baked scones and cakes and ran the refreshments on the day. We held a raffle supported by members and local businesses. The CWGC came to support us and helped the public find war graves. The Discovery Museum Newcastle sent a wonderful display of WW1 uniforms and artififacts, as did the Fusiliers Museum in Alnwick.
We raised the fantastic amount of £575 for the local Poppy Appeal.
Well done everyone!
