Friday 20 October 2017 - Poppy Awards Evening

 Poppy Awards 2017

Tideford and St Germans Branch of the Royal British Legion held an enjoyable Awards night on Friday 20th October.

Members and supporters were invited to the club to enjoy drinks and nibbles.
Annie Binding (pictured centre stage), the  Community Fundraiser for Cornwall RBL attended and gave a humorous and informative talk. She thanked everyone profusely for their fund raising efforts and presented framed certificates of achievement to individual Poppy Appeal collectors and to local businesses who display Poppy Appeal boxes during Remembrance tide, many of whom have been supporters for up to fifteen years. Membership of the Royal British Legion is open to all, you do not have to have a service connection.

The Tideford and St Germans Branch of the Royal British Legion was honoured with two awards at the Royal British Legion Annual County Conference held in County Hall Truro.
Rosemary Savery, Branch Standard Bearer and ex RAF (in uniform middle right of picture) was presented with the Bernard Hitchens Memorial Trophy statuette by the RBL Cornwall County Chairman Steve Lewis ex-RN. This makes it a hat trick for her as she has now won the award 3 consecutive years for her dedication, commitment and smart bearing in carrying out her duties in support of events in Cornwall and Devon.
